Communications and Strategic Relationship Assistant

We are looking for an Assistant to provide support to the Director of Communications and Business Development.

The successful candidate will possess at least 7-10 years of proven experience in the non-profit space in a similar role that encompasses administrative support, project management, communications and development. In this role, the candidate should be an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for the Director of Communications and Business Development

Support project management through event and meeting scheduling, note-taking, and keeping the Director and team members up to date on project timelines and responsibilities including managing the departments production calendar

Oversee and maintain the CRM data base for the department

Track corporate and influencer partnerships and programs

Assist in the production of communications assets for all departments in the organization including assets for fundraising, programs and events

  • Generate content for all communications vehicles including the Foundations newsletter, website, impact reports and partner communications
  • Monitor current events and ensure the organization responds quickly and effectively to breaking news
  • Draft and disseminate press releases, media alerts and tip sheets
  • Manage media outreach and media pitches
  • Track media coverage using Meltwater software and produce analytics about audiences reached
  • Conduct research for new projects and partnerships
  • Contribute to the development of existing and new programs and initiatives
  • Assist in nurturing relationships with current partners as well as prospect identification, engagement, solicitation and stewardship of potential partners

Requirements:

Strong communications and organizational skills with careful attention to detail

Superior project management skills, able to multi-task, prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines

Advance researching, writing and editing skills

Demonstrated ability in media relations

Must be comfortable working in a team and taking direction, as well as the ability to take initiative and to work independently

Excellent interpersonal skills

Experience working in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
