Food Bank For New York City’s Social Media and Content Manager will be responsible for developing and scaling the organization’s social media engagement strategy and content marketing efforts. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the manager will be responsible for ideating, creating, and distributing social media content designed to engage various audiences, and creating awareness- and fundraising-focused social campaigns to help increase Food Bank’s visibility, market share and donations. S/he will work cross-functionally with team members to expand our distribution pipeline for articles, stories, thought leadership, videos, and bring Food Bank’s brand to life while ensuring quality, tone, messaging and copy are consistently represented as authentic, authoritative and pioneering in the hunger-relief space. Working closely with Marketing and Communications leads, s/he will help tell our brand story through compelling, unique and customized content on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, and be directly accountable for growth and engagement results.
The ideal candidate will be a creative, strategic, execution-oriented marketer with a strong business acumen and tireless drive for results. This person will be excited to wear many hats and collaborate across the organization with various team members to successfully drive Food Bank’s success. S/he lives and breathes social media and is comfortable making best practice recommendations in ambiguous environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Co-manage editorial calendar and identify potential opportunities for cross-promotion for consistent messaging across all platforms
· Lead the content strategy, creation, and execution for all social media networks - Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
· Act as the social media gatekeeper for Food Bank, ensuring that all content published on our channels is up to brand standards and industry best practices.
· Manage and oversee all social media community management
· Contribute to the ideation and execution of a variety of annual and new fundraising campaigns
· Work both autonomously and cross-departmentally with a variety of teams to support fundraising goals; raise awareness of various Food Bank anti-poverty programs, food insecurity research, and legislative policies
· Collaborate frequently with fundraising team to create and optimize content for paid digital media
· Work closely with Marketing and Communications team to strategize and execute on cause marketing campaigns and influencer partnerships focused on brand awareness or donor acquisition.
· Identify and interview Food Bank clients and act as liaison when the Development team or press needs firsthand accounts
· Monitor media mentions of Food Bank For New York City, issues related to anti-hunger, and our VIP supporters
· Manage photos and client testimonials
· Prepare talking points as needed for Food Bank representatives
· Assist with drafting, editing, and content needs for email, website, blog, and other promotional materials
· Deliver high-quality assets in multiple formats depending on creative briefs
· Understand and predict social media trends to keep Food Bank relevant
· Track, analyze, and optimize social media performance
REQUIREMENTS:
· 4+ years of marketing, communications, or social media experience, preferably for mission-driven organizations
· You are an exceptional writer and storyteller who can effectively engage an audience with content across multiple channels.
· Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in social media.
· Experience in developing, managing and executing content strategy
· Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
· An expert on trends in fast changing social platforms
· Experience in the influencer marketing space.
· Proficient in content marketing, with an understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics.
· Excellent verbal and written skills; exceptional organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities, and attention to detail.
· Ability to interpret data, generate insights and recommend optimizations and new strategies.
· Can effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably, decide and act without having the total picture, and handle risk and uncertainty.
· Ability to manage multiple projects
· Detail-oriented without losing sight of the big picture
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor's Degree required
· Minimum 4 years
· Proven project management skills, able to manage schedules, timelines and demands effectively
· Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills; proven track record of interacting effectively with people and external stakeholders of diverse cultural and professional backgrounds and building and maintaining positive relationships in order to create change
· Demonstrated excellence in prioritizing diversity and inclusion throughout marketing through words, visuals, and community engagement
· Proven and comprehensive track record of successful and innovative development and implementation of strategies through planning and managing campaigns, communications and marketing projects
· Demonstrated ability to articulate the mission and vision of the organization
· Ability to multi-task, with excellent organizational and management skills
· Ability to lead and inspire and to work well within a team environment
· Ability to work under pressure of deadlines
· Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Cision, Meltwater, Co-Schedule, Canto and Monday.com a plus.
· Experience with WordPress, web content management
· IT / computer literate using Microsoft Office
