Director, Social Media (Digital Marketing)
United Artists Releasing, a Joint Venture between Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) and Annapurna Pictures (Annapurna), is a U.S. theatrical releasing company. Built upon the legacy of the iconic United Artists motion picture studio, the joint venture provides a home where filmmakers are supported by thoughtful approaches to marketing, publicity, and distribution. United Artists Releasing offers content creators an alternative distribution option outside of the studio system and supports Annapurna and MGM’s film slates as well as the films of third-party filmmakers.
This role will begin as a work from home position and will return to our West Hollywood office when health guidelines permit.
The Digital Creative Strategy team at United Artists Releasing is responsible for being digital platform experts within the organization, applying the overall strategies of our films to the mobile-social landscape in the most innovative way possible.
Director, Social Media
Your role will report directly to the head of Digital Marketing, with a dotted line into the title lead (VP, Digital Creative Strategy) and your role is to oversee the platform-by-platform social strategy and execution of a film’s campaign. Your role is a crucial part of the entire marketing campaign, understanding the efforts of the various departments within the overall Marketing and Distribution teams (Creative, Publicity, Exhibitor Relations, Research, Finance, etc.) and making sure that not only does your digital campaign assist those efforts, but also creates strategic mobile-social campaigns that make an enormous impact on their own.
Your responsibilities:
- Owning the platform-by-platform strategy for social media campaigns, with the direction of the Digital Title Lead and the Head of Digital.
- Create authentic, engaging, fun and groundbreaking campaigns that you and the
film’s target audience want to engage with
- Come up with large-scale programs for our partners that make each platform’s strategy unique.
- You must be able to cover live events without breaking a sweat.
- Be responsible for sourcing 360 campaign pitches from agency partners and making key decisions on who works on what campaigns. And why.
- Oversee engagement strategies with fans across the social landscape.
- Help come up with audience targeting plans, in conjunction with the media and Data & Analytics teams
- Create talent support plans for all talent/filmmakers as related to partner promotions, on-site activations, innovation initiatives, and custom partner content.
- Regular Communication between filmmakers, talent/reps, editorial, and advertising
agencies.
- Work closely on cross-departmental efforts, including talent opportunities, exhibition/in-cinema promotions, and more.
- Run point on influencer marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Work with Creative Advertising, Publicity, and Media to help craft integrated trailer launch plans – which largely rely on social media distribution.

Your background:
- 5+ years of experience working with a media or entertainment company in positions that specializes in social media and digital marketing.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Past experience of moving quickly and running in a fast-paced work environment.
- A passion for the entertainment industry in general, and film marketing in particular.
