Growth Marketing Manager
33% of US adults are categorized as excessive drinkers, yet fewer than 1% get help to improve their drinking habits. We know why.
There's a huge gap in the alcohol health market for the millions of consumers who enjoy drinking and have no desire to quit entirely, yet could nonetheless benefit from building a healthier relationship with alcohol.
Cutback Coach is filling this gap with a proactive alcohol health platform focused on helping anyone who regularly drinks improve their overall health and wellness through changes to their drinking habits. We take a differentiated approach by focusing on moderation and mindfulness, and are building a friendly, approachable brand that will scale.
We've got a product in market with highly engaged paying customers, an efficient acquisition funnel and stable retention. And we're just getting started.
Just as Calm built a billion dollar business by opening a new category around proactive mental health, we'll do the same for alcohol-related wellness.
With our recent $3.1M seed fundraise from top investors including Uncork Capital, Adjacent VC, Nir Eyal, Mike Lee (founder of MyFitnessPal), and James Park (founder of Fitbit), we're positioned to establish ourselves as the category leader. Help us make it happen.
About the role
We're looking for our an incredible growth marketing manager to join our small (but growing!) team. You'll focus on discovering new ways for us to grow organically. We have the very early starting point of a content strategy, some amazing ideas to build an eco-system of partnerships, influencers, and more, but we need someone to own, expand upon, and drive these initiatives. Part growth hacker, part methodical foundation layer, and part relationship-builder, this is the perfect role for an experienced generalist to drive rapid growth.
This a unique opportunity to get involved with a fast-growing company while having a positive impact on a huge group of U.S. adults. Based on level of experience, there's a good chance this can turn into a management and/or leadership role within the company.
We're open to different levels of experience and skill, so if you don't quite match the requirements below, but think you'd be a great fit, please reach out. We'd love to talk.
About you
You're scrappy and entrepreneurial, with a get sh** done attitude. You thrive in ambiguity and love inventing novel solutions that push the envelope in pursuit of rapid growth and improved unit economics. You're excited to work heads-down to do whatever it takes to grow, but also looking forward to stepping back and helping lay the strategic foundation for our growth into the future.
Startup experience is not required, but an understanding of what may be required, especially during the early days, is necessary. This is going to be a fast-paced, exciting, fulfilling role which could grow into something quite significant.
We're a mission-driven company with a passion for this space and looking to build a team that can build deep empathy for our users and is genuinely excited for the problem we're solving.
Responsibilities
Finding the right mix of organic growth channels/tactics is the top priority of this role. The following are areas where we think we need to start, but note that this is subject to change as we learn and adapt. You must be willing and excited to be flexible as we learn and grow.
- Find new opportunities - Test new ideas for organic growth in a methodical, measurable manner. Own the project plan, KPIs, and requirements and lead the efforts from start to finish. Deeply understand the impact and be capable of making a decision on scaling further.
- Business development - Identify and nurture higher-level business development opportunities and partnerships, both inbound and outbound. We have exciting ideas that we can't list here, but the opportunity is huge.
- Affiliate marketing - Launch and own our affiliate marketing program using a variety of tactics. In addition to managing the relationships, you will define the KPIs, pricing and packaging requirements, requirements for participation, types of affiliates, etc.
- Influencer marketing - Develop a successful influencer program by nurturing relationships, identifying the best opportunities, and creating sponsorship packages. This is another big green-field opportunity for Cutback Coach.
- Social media strategy - Ensure that Cutback Coach is a proactive voice in the public dialogue around mindful drinking and moderation. You'll use social media not just to bolster our brand and thought-leadership, but to drive meaningful growth.
- Measure meticulously - Always be prepared to answer questions around which efforts are performing best and which ones we should invest in more. Your deep understanding of performance will help us make adjustments quickly and effectively.
- Own the plan - As the opportunities take shape, you'll develop and implement an insight-driven, high-value plan for organic growth that exceeds business objectives, with a focus on adding new subscribers.
- Content strategy - You'll use content of all forms to drive thought-leadership and growth. You'll drive our owned media strategy (blog, social, thought-leadership), while distributing our content across the web (guest blogs, influencers, syndication, PR, etc).
