Awkward Essentials - Social Media Community Manager
Unorthodox Ventures is helping our partner company, Awkward Essentials, to hire a Social Media Community Manager.
At Awkward Essentials, we believe in innovative, no-BS intimate care solutions that keep it real. Our first product, an after-sex cleanup sponge, broke the internet and just won't stop. Now we're in search of a highly organized, super rad, full time Social Media Marketing Associate to play a pivotal role in evolving and accelerating Awkward Essential’s social media channels and awareness efforts.
We're looking for someone witty, sharp, and kind. You aren't afraid to troll the trolls, but you know where the line is and treat our customers like you'd treat your mother (Assuming you treat her like a queen. We really hope you do.). You are the digital bodyguard for the company. And you also happen to be hilarious.
We are an early stage startup and you will have the opportunity to play a vital role in shaping the personality of the company, and it's future success. You will build and execute the content strategy and creation for all social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, TikTok , LinkedIn, etc.), ensuring a cohesive brand voice. Think Wendy's, Moonpie, Poptarts, SlimJim, Nuggs - No, we aren't a food company but we're just as weird as them (and love to eat).
You will improve brand awareness, sentiment, and drive conversation. This role also includes leading all Influencer marketing, digital communications, and community management. Since the team will be small initially, you must be both a strategic leader and someone that loves to get their hands dirty.
We go above and beyond for our consumers and this role requires you to have an unapologetic obsession with our community. It's not customer service - it's helping out a best friend. You're a storyteller at heart, up to speed with media trends, and aren't afraid to get sassy and try new things.
Responsibilities:
- Implement strategy, planning, & execution of social media marketing campaigns across all accounts including Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Grow and manage our community including responding to customers via chat, email, FB, IG, and DMs.
- Grow and manage our private community of VIPs
- Visual content creation ranging from videos, photos, and very light graphics (your phone is fine!)
- Content writing including blog posts, cross promotional articles, and more
- Recruit & Create meaningful social partnerships with influencers, bloggers, affiliates, and other brands
- Partner with Digital Marketing Manager to drive conversion through a full cycled consumer journey
- Lead A/B testing and measure the effectiveness of creative across platforms
- Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points
- Stay abreast of emerging social media opportunities
- Support the communications strategy which includes include digital editorials and public relations endeavors
Occasionally, your role will fall outside of the general “Social" scope and you may work directly with the founder on:
- Brand strategy
- Sampling / Field Marketing
- Operations
- Other things! It is a startup and you will have to wear different hats from time to time!
Experience, Education, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing
- 2-3 years’ experience in marketing with a focus on social - bonus if you've worked at a successful startup!
- Experience in CPG (Health & Wellness, Beauty & Personal Care, Food & Beverage)
- Ability to strategize and execute digital/social campaigns along with strategic skills in translating campaign concepts into effective branded content
- Strong writing skills
- Demonstrable experience with marketing database, email, social media and social display advertising campaigns
- Experience with A/B testing
- Solid knowledge of social management analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Twitter and FB analytics, Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends)
- Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in social media marketing and measurement
- Strong planning and organization skills
- Ability to take a great phone photo or video
- Fearless self-starter
- User obsessed - you are responsive and empathetic with our users and community
- Open and Effective Communicator
- Bonus if you have knowledge of paid media platforms
- Bonus if you have experience with reporting
