The Digital Communications and Public Relations Associate will aid in the development and execution of public relations campaigns and content marketing efforts across traditional, digital and social media. Working collaboratively with senior public relations and social media staff, this role will not only help to promote Boston University's research and faculty, but also position BU as a leader in higher education and research excellence. Furthermore, the role will work to highlight BU's strategic priorities and institutional values, including academic and research advancement and a dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Duties will include:
- Original content creation, such as blog and social media posts, pitches, media advisories, best practice documentation and presentations
- Social media management and reporting; media relations and influencer outreach
- Interacting directly with faculty and develop a keen understanding of their expertise, while monitoring news and fielding requests from the media, BU staff and faculty.
- This role will also undertake administrative duties, such as channel management, website updating, coordinating the daily news briefing and serving as day-to-day point of contact for the PR office.
This position requires a motivated, self-starter who is able to drive projects, creatively tackle problems and continue to grow the role.
Requirements
3-5 years of experience in public relations, marketing, or similar areas.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detailed knowledge of social media platforms, key metrics and reporting. Familiarity with paid social, YouTube, Sprinklr, Facebook Live and Reddit a plus.
Ability to balance multiple projects, deadlines and priorities. Outstanding attention to detail.
Experience pitching external media and influencers. Comfort and polish working with principal partners, such as media, faculty, senior leadership or clients.
Ability to work collaboratively with PR, social media and editorial team.
B.A./B.S. or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field(s).
