Senior Global Brand Manager, Dove Masterbrand
Background & Purpose of the Job
Dove is the largest Personal Care brand in Unilever and in recent years has enjoyed spectacular rates of double-digit growth. Grounded in purpose, with a clear strategic vision, a strong innovation funnel and a unique POV on beauty, Dove is poised for even greater success in 2021 and beyond.
Alongside Dove’s position within the Unilever portfolio, the brand is loved by millions of consumers worldwide for both its products and its commitment to Real Beauty. At Dove, we’re on mission to make a positive experience of beauty universally accessible to everyone and have been doing so for nearly two decades through campaigns and initiatives that have worked to challenge narrow beauty ideals so women and girls can see more of themselves in media and culture.
In 2004 Dove launched the Campaign for Real Beauty – a groundbreaking positioning within personal care which has since inspired women globally. 15 years ago, Dove ignited a conversation around photoshop and image manipulation with the iconic Evolution film and campaign. More recently, in 2017, the brand launched the ‘Dove Real Beauty Pledge,’ which was a promise to always portray women as they are in real life with zero digital distortion in all of our advertising and marketing materials. In 2019 Dove co-founded the CROWN Coalition to advance anti-hair discrimination legislation called The CROWN Act. The CROWN Act, which stands for Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair, is a law that prohibits discrimination based on hair texture and hairstyle. Dove has helped pass the CROWN act in 10 states and will remain committed to the mission of ending hair discrimination until it is illegal nationwide. In 2021, nearly fifteen years after the iconic Evolution film, Dove is tackling the issue of digital distortion again with ‘Reverse Selfie – a new film rooted in research conducted by the Dove Self-Esteem Project that addresses the damage digital self-distortion can have on girls’ self-esteem.
This role will be responsible for the continuation of Dove’s work on the Dove Self Esteem Project, CROWN Act and will also help build new programs and campaigns to make a positive experience of beauty universally accessible to everyone.
