Blue Hour Studios is a new kind of creative content shop, at the intersection of brand, performance, and emerging media. We’re a joint venture between Horizon Media and Group Nine Media (the parent of Thrillist, NowThis, POPSUGAR, and other top media brands), that combines storytelling and agile production capabilities with best-in-class strategy and media expertise. We collaborate with brands who want to innovate and produce breakthrough campaigns that earn attention and inspire action, providing brand & content strategy, full-service creative production, influencer marketing and consumer engagement (community management and CRM).
Job Summary
Blue Hour’s Strategy team is made up of curious leaders obsessed with unlocking unspoken truths across people, culture, and business to inspire breakthrough creative. Part brand marketer, part strategist, part trend spotter, part communications planner, and part consultant, on our team you will learn to partner with brands, creating with speed, agility, and at the convergence of brand and performance.
The Strategist role is insights driven, client relationship focused and highly collaborative. This includes partnering with both brands and internal teams to develop insights that inform creative briefs that lead to breakthrough ideas, then collaborating on the execution and always-on strategy with our clients. You should be naturally curious about culture, have a passion for content creation, a sharp perspective on emerging media, and an ability to combine empathy and research to find unspoken truths. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity to help sharpen and grow Blue Hour’s strategic capabilities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
50% Strategy:
• Continuously assess competitive landscape to identify cultural trends, audience insights, notable campaigns or storytelling techniques
• Translate marketplace opportunities, brand objectives and in-depth data research into insight driven content recommendations
• Contribute to the development of strategic client narratives and creative briefs based on insights and analysis via content, cultural, and competitive audits using proprietary tools, data, and research.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop strategies for things such as emerging platforms and trends, creator partnerships, and content calendars
• Develop best practices and thought leadership on how we reach audiences across culture, emerging media, trends, and creative storytelling and look to translate that into presenting new ideas to clients that drive their business forward.
50% Account:
• Manage day-to-day client needs and deliverables, create timelines, and asset management both internally and with clients
• Supporting the management of campaigns or programs from inception to activation, including creative development, execution, optimization, and measurement
• Create case studies, post campaign analysis, postmortems and facilitate billing in a timely manner
• Proactively identify resources across internal teams and tools to manage multiple projects at any given time
Knowledge and Skills Required
• You understand the difference between data and insights and have a knack for synthesizing complex subjects into digestible insights
• You love solving problems, are curious and entrepreneurial, and are comfortable navigating complexity. Reading, listening, and absorbing the world around you. Ready to embrace ambiguity and create alongside your co-workers
• You must have a passion for creativity, innovation and learning about the future of media, particularly social and digital
• You have experience advocating for your ideas and have a distinct point of view
We expect everyone at Blue Hour to know their way around a Keynote/PowerPoint deck. Nimbleness to learn new research, planning, project management tools.
