We are looking for a Director of Consumer Public Relations and Influencer Marketing to join our team and lead our global earned media efforts. The Director will help to develop strategic, cohesive brand PR, influencer and media relations campaigns to drive brand awareness, create demand and communicate SmileDirectClub values and core messages across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop, create, and execute quarterly consumer-focused PR and influencer strategies and campaigns in collaboration with the extended Communications team (social, content marketing, corporate social responsibility, corporate communications).
- Provide strategic guidance to international teams to help leverage earned media to build brand awareness, consideration, and preference.
- Manage agencies and inbound media queries. Build, foster, and leverage strong national and local media relationships
- Commission and utilize internal data and external studies to create a constant flow of broadcast, editorial, and other press opportunities
- Build, manage, and develop a global team of PR contributors to create a best-in-class earned program.
- Identify and insert SmileDirectClub into trending stories as appropriate
- Develop and execute earned strategy surrounding our various global, retail and product expansions.
- Manage go-to-market press strategy for product launches
- Deliver strategic reporting to leadership team to demonstrate brand SOV, reach, key message resonance, SEO value, and other metrics.
- Create press recaps for events and campaigns and ensure coverage is effectively communicated internally
Qualifications
- 15+ years of relevant earned media experience working with young, disruptive companies
- A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in public relations, English, journalism, or related field
- A deep list of media relationships and contacts, and a proven ability to consistently land features in top-tier editorial and broadcast press
- Experience building and managing teams across global markets.
- Agency selection and management experience. Experience working with influencer agencies required.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Mastery of AP style
- Ability to think strategically and be a team player, with the flexibility to reprioritize quickly
- Knowledge of PR insights and analytics tools (Meltwater, Trendkite, Cision, etc.) and influencer marketing and insight tools. (Tagger, Sprinklr, etc.)
- Ability to look at data/numbers to see trends and make recommendations
- A sense of humor and passion for making people smile
