Overview
Tonal is in search of an Internal Communications Manager to help build our internal communications efforts from the ground up. Reporting to the Director of PR, you will be responsible for ensuring Tonal employees are kept informed and engaged by working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to establish organizational strategies, messages, and tactics to keep staff apprised of ongoing developments. This includes crafting and cultivating the stories we share with our employees that directly impact our culture.
You’ll be an essential communications partner to executives across the business, including our CEO and SVP of People Operations, helping clearly articulate our employee value proposition while sharing details about the programs that matter to our employees across Corporate and Retail. This individual will also play a key role in internal communications as it applies to acquisition related efforts.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA and will report to the Director of PR & Influencer Marketing who is based in New York, NY.
What You Will Do
- Build and execute Tonal’s internal communications strategy to influence, educate, and inform employees across a distributed workforce
- Advise Tonal executives and create ways to communicate key information and motivate employees
- Help lead the conversation around Tonal’s company culture and values, particularly as it relates to Diversity, Equality & Inclusion
- Ensure communications are compelling and aligned with our desired voice and tone
- Be a strategic and tactical partner, especially for complicated and sensitive communications affecting the whole company
- Guide storytelling efforts for key projects across the company and develop compelling campaigns and content to support global initiatives
- Partner closely with the People team and build a strategy to enrich our global employee base through our learning and development curriculum
- Write, edit, and collaborate on internal communications including All Hands meetings, narratives, emails, speaking points, and slide presentations
- Develop and roll-out a program to track results and measure success
Who You Are
- 6+ years of experience in internal communications
- Proven track record developing and executing compelling internal communications strategies and programs - at scale and around the globe
- Excellent communication skills - you value relationship building both externally with partners and internally with key stakeholders
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and exercises appropriate discretion when dealing with sensitive matters
- Ability to capture the authentic voice of leadership in written communications and help shape the internal communications narrative effectively via presentations, scripts, or emails
- Can quickly grasp information across a variety of disciplines and subsequently develop clear communications with minimal guidance
- Strong organizational and project management skills - you have autonomy, take ownership of your work, and adhere to timelines
- Entrepreneurial mindset - you are a self-starter who is able to work well with a team
- Can-do attitude - you are a driven, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast paced environment
