RTI's Child and Adolescent Research and Evaluation program seeks a Bachelor’s-level Public Health Analyst to fill an immediate need. As an analyst, this person will function as an integral part of a team providing analytic and project management support to senior staff conducting health services and public health research and evaluation. The analyst will also become proficient with the various analytical tools used in health services and public health research.

The ideal candidate will have curiosity, empathy and human-centered design experience to help plan, develop, deliver and evaluate digital and social media components of social marketing and strategic communication programs, campaigns and interventions. The solution-minded candidate will help tackle critical problems in public health, especially focused on adolescent health and encouraging adolescents to pursue healthy lifestyles and avoid risky behaviors.

Responsibilities May Include, But Not Be Limited To

  • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data
  • Contributing to reports, writing proposal sections, literature reviews
  • Compile and manage databases using Excel or other database software
  • Coordinate digital and social media communication and advertising activities
  • Craft and implement evidence-based and theory-driven, integrated media materials, with a focus on adolescent and youth audiences
  • Pursue human-centered design by conducting user research and usability testing activities
  • Synthesize research findings and identify audience insights
  • Develop, test, and refine communication products, messages and materials
  • Contribute to the branding and concept development of public education campaigns
  • Manage correspondence and project communications and assist with other project management responsibilities including scheduling, preparing meeting agendas, and recording meeting minutes
  • Maintain files to document work performed, including calculations, spreadsheets, memoranda, references, reviewer comments, etc.
  • Write proposal sections of limited technical complexity and gather background information to support proposal efforts
  • Contribute to business development through successful completion of project work, exhibiting quality, timeliness, cost efficiency, and client satisfaction, to ensure follow-on work
  • Review and proof own work for accuracy and completeness

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, economics, sociology, psychology, political science, or a related social science field
  • Demonstrated interest in child, adolescent, and youth research and evaluation topics
  • Experience with or coursework in qualitative or quantitative data collection and analysis
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide a writing sample if requested
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in multidisciplinary and diverse teams
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Dedoose, Nvivo, or Atlas qualitative analysis software
  • Experience with statistical packages such as SAS, STATA, or SPSS
  • Familiarity or experience with online content creation software (e.g., Canva, Snappa, Animoto, etc.) or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Demonstrated experience conducting influencer marketing and pitching and leveraging/negotiating media opportunities
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing digital products, campaigns and/or interventions, including the use of content marketing and social media advertising
  • Experience with social media listening, management and content development tools (e.g., video or infographic tools)
  • Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including graphic designers, software engineers, and product managers
  • Experience with populations disproportionately affected by health inequities (e.g., tribal populations, communities of color, LGBTQIA youth, foster youth, etc.)
  • Multicultural or bilingual communication skills
