THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Social Impact Projects Director for our North American headquarters in Portland, OR.

The Social Impact Projects Director leads and executes Social Impact programs including:

  • Managing the partner network of nonprofits and social enterprises
  • Providing strategic alignment and thought leadership with the core Cultural Heartbeats team to execute against brand calendar moments of Honoring Black Excellence, Pride, and International Day of the Girl.
  • Working closely with Diversity & Inclusion, Brand and BU functions to integrate sustained social programming co-created with the partner network into brand narratives and stories that authenticates messaging and creates meaningful actions.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Drive overall purpose pillar activation plans from strategic inception to grass roots execution and approach to amplification. (Global Purpose Pillars: Breaking Barriers, One Starting Line, End Plastic Waste).
  • Manages and leads key partners from portfolio of social impact partners, open-source partners as it relates to pillar programming and collective of purpose-driven creators (Entertainment & Influencer Marketing, Sports Marketing and Purpose-specific).
  • Leads the strategic development, nonprofit partners, guidance and consultation of key consumer-facing cultural heartbeats: Honoring Black Excellence, Pride, and International Day of the Girl on behalf of Purpose.
  • Creates turn-key, innovative, human-centered programming, pilots, and initiatives that drive impact pillars at scale.
  • Supports strategic guidance and consultation to brand business units/ functions/communities (adidas Runners, adidas Football Collective) as it relates to purpose-driven ideas, activations, product creation, collaborations, innovations and messaging.
  • Manages Activation and Programming budget.
  • Functional expertise and cultural review through Global Cultural Oversight Team and Cultural Guidance Playbook.

Who We’re Looking For

A strong fit for the role will have:

  • University degree
  • 10+ years of progressive experience; with at least 3 years of experience in social impact/programming/brand/communications
  • Proven track record of leading and implementing larger-scale global programs and projects
  • Management experience
  • Purpose-minded, networker, customer-focused and global thinker
  • Superior knowledge on community outreach, social impact and developing programs/curriculum
  • Excellent influencing skills with high credibility in senior management
  • Deals effectively with difficult situations, negotiates persuasively, has a clear point of view and conveys ideas concisely
  • Ability to work in and thrive in a changing business environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Global Purpose strategy
  • Ability to oversee and implement Global Purpose social impact commitments
  • Partner + impact programming management
  • Budget planning & accountability
