Manager of Public Relations
We're on the hunt for the best and brightest public relations, communications and crisis communications dynamo to join our team as our Manager of Public Relations as soon as possible. Agency-Wide Public Relations Leadership
Key Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Lead team members in creating excellence for clients as public relations service line leader, with deep understanding of all public relations (media relations, influencer relations and partnership development & community integration) tactics to best lead team members across service lines
- Fully understand how to use and train team members on all relevant public relations softwares and tools needed to do job effectively
- Stay abreast of media relations, influencer relations and partnership development & community integration trends and processes and relay information to team in order to determine how to best apply to client work and Like Minds’ brand
- Research and recommend the best tools and softwares to our team in order to assist with profitability, productivity, excellence in work output, etc.
- Collaborate and contribute ideas in team brainstorms on public relations initiatives and find opportunities to enhance client work through these services
- Develop and oversee processes and train all team members on public relations services lines as part of onboarding and on ongoing basis
- Oversee, review, approve and recommend improvements to all client public relations deliverables
- Train and support team members in development of media relations, influencer relations, partnership development & community integration and related strategies
- Bring training opportunities to team surrounding public relations efforts during all-team meetings and/or on an ongoing basis
- Act as liaison between Account Manager, Manager of Digital & Social Media and individual public relations team members to ensure all initiatives are completed on brand, on deadline and according to strategy
Supervision, Management & Accountability Of Service Line Team Members
- Work with Communications Specialist(s), Account Coordinator(s) and Intern(s) to help manage and prioritize time and schedule, including checking-in and giving feedback on work product
- Oversee team members’ public relations execution and provide approvals for all client content and work/deliverables
- Provide feedback and check in via weekly (or multiple times a week) one-on-one meetings with direct report(s)
- Provide feedback and growth opportunities by completing and facilitating quarterly reviews of direct reports
- Oversee and ensure direct reports maintain personal work time logs, proactively communicate work status and maintain timely updates on task progress
- Ensure team members are consistently living up to Like Minds’ core values
Public Relations Execution
- Lead client media training and develop prep client training documents
- Assist team members with their public relations deliverables when they are out of office or need an extra set of hands
- Step in for any clients with public relations service lines in the event of team member turnover
- Potentially take on short-term, hourly or pop-up public relations projects
- Assist with Like Minds’ external public relations efforts (award nominations, speaking nominations, drafting bylines/expert contribution, etc.)
Member Of Leadership Team
- Responsible for being a strong, contributing member of account and leadership teams according to Like Minds’ core values
- Assist in overall well-being of Like Minds
- Attend and participate in weekly L10 meetings and additional as-needed meetings with Founders and Leadership Team to communicate work as it relates to other team members, clients and potential business opportunities, managerial struggles/successes and learning opportunities
- Establish and report on agency metrics in weekly L10 meetings
- Assist in securing and growing/retaining additional business across all public relations service lines
- Assist Founders in establishing service line rates that consider hours required to complete job, clients’ ability to pay and agency profitability, aligning with principles of social enterprise
- Assist in meeting and exceeding agency’s financial goals and projections in order to continue growing public relations department
- Assist partners in making staffing decisions for clients with public relations scopes
- Represent Like Minds as expert in public relations through speaking engagements, media opportunities, training opportunities and/or direct client or prospective client discussions
We Want To Hear From You If You Have
- At least 5-7 years of experience in public relations, influencer relations, partnership development, crisis communications and/or strategic communications!
- A solid track record of building and maintaining media relationships across platforms, beats and geographic regions!
- A curiosity, passion for or obsession with what and how influencer marketing impacts consumer behaviors!
- Your eyes constantly scouting the next big public relations trend!
- Excellent writing capabilities and mastery of AP style!
- The chops to bring a strategic vision to life in partnership with an integrated team!
- Relationship-building prowess to connect with communities, networks and organizations in meaningful ways on behalf of clients!
- A knack for developing media relations, influencer relations and partnership development & community integration strategies and content that incite action!
- The creative voice to craft masterful story angles and pitches!
- Finesse and comfort in managing public-facing crises with both clients and members of the media!
- One eye on big picture planning while the other eye tracks the details!
- A demonstrated passion for mission-driven clientele and the impact marketing space!
