Reports To: Director of Marketing & Communications

Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is looking for a driven and highly creative Social Media Specialist with a proven record of successfully managing multiple accounts on most main platforms.

You will join our fun and creative marketing communications team and collaborate with all other departments within our non-profit organization.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for creating and implementing PPA's social media strategy to help enhance the experience with our brand, build community, boost brand awareness, and increase engagement.

This includes daily social media listening, social media engagement, online presence monitoring, social media content production, and paid and organic content distribution. You will be responsible for publishing content about our membership benefits programs and other editorial content on and throughout multiple platforms and for different audiences.

The Social Media Specialist meets with, photographs, documents, and writes to and for professional photographers, aspiring ones, business coaches, and many other creative minds. You will promote, market, listen, engage, and communicate with our members, stakeholders, vendors, partners, and prospects, mainly through social media and online platforms, and also through some blog writing.

  • Deeply familiar with operational social media dynamics and best practices, and an expert at managing all major social media platforms, using third-party tools as needed.
  • On top of emerging trends and platform updates that could impact our social media presence
  • Creative, fun, and great at building relationships.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic environment and able to constantly switch gears between the big picture and specific deliverables, while never losing sight of results.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement PPA's overall social media strategy for our various accounts.
  • Manage PPA's social media accounts, ensure all information is current, and maintain proper security measures and recovery information for all accounts as needed.
  • Promote our brand and mission to our members, followers, and partners via our owned social media platforms while maintaining our brand voice and tone.
  • Connect, engage and be of service to our online community, answer messages promptly and in line with PPA's tone and culture.
  • Create and manage PPA's social media editorial calendar and develop a repeatable plan to repurpose existing content that supports our goals.
  • Create, edit, and upload online content for PPA's social media platforms to ensure continuous growth and engagement.
  • Work with our creative services team and copywriter to develop assets and ensure brand consistency.
  • Act as a social care agent and work with the customer care team to address or relay customer-service related issues on PPA's various social media platforms.
  • Develop post user-generated content to support the needs of specific platforms.
  • Create engagement campaigns, including giveaways, cross-promotional events, and Facebook live events and manage several Facebook groups.
  • Manage PPA's in-house paid social media campaigns.
  • Measure accounts' performance, draw actionable insights, and report on analytics results.
  • Collaborate with influencer marketing coordinator and other departments to help promote our benefits and contribute to PPA's one-voice.
  • Stay up to date on digital trends, Facebook community policies, and best practices for all social media platforms.
  • Establish best practices for community processes, strategies, and growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Education

  • Our ideal candidate will have strong goal setting, strategy, and execution experience, written communication skills, project management skills, and community management experience.
  • 2-3 years of social media management or online community management with demonstrated proof of scaling and engaging community members.
  • BA in Creative Writing, Journalism, English, Communications, or other comparable fields (preferred).
  • Knowledge of social media best practices.
  • Close attention to detail and the ability to handle social care and troubleshooting with grace.
  • Strategical and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to keep workload organized, set priorities, and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Canva, Hootsuite, or similar software
  • Fluent in written and oral English.
  • This is a full-time job, onsite, with PPA's team in Downtown Atlanta
