Director, Digital Engagement and Marketing
Global Health Strategies seeks a creative self-starter who will build and lead our growing digital engagement and marketing practice and the development and execution of digital campaigns to fight for a healthier, more equitable world. The position is based out of the NY headquarters working in partnership with all GHS offices, including Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America.
Success for this position is designing and implementing innovative, effective digital campaigning strategies on behalf of a range of premier clients working in the global public health and social good sectors. These clients look to GHS to build and retain robust audiences for their issue campaigns. The position will oversee strategies that deploy a combination of social media, paid media, email marketing, influencer marketing and other tools.
Examples of recent and continuing areas of focus include: promoting global cooperation for an equitable response to the COVID emergency; mobilizing donor and government resources for immunization, women’s and girls’ health and other major health priorities; elevating global moments such as the United Nations General Assembly; and encouraging communities to adopt healthy behaviors including voluntary blood donation.
The ideal candidate has specialist experience working in a full-service digital agency or equivalent. They are a hands-on doer as well as strategic thinker. They are also a mentor who can lead others – this position will be expected to help recruit and manage a world-class team. The position will work in close coordination with multiple teams across GHS, including project teams, in-house creative specialists and vendors.
Responsibilities:
-Play an integral role on GHS project teams by leading digital engagement and marketing campaign planning and execution for clients including audience targeting and segmentation, management of ad spend program and budgets, content vision and development- in collaboration with the GHS content and design teams- and data analytics/monitoring and evaluation.
- Work with program teams to understand clients’ goals; develop vision and strategy for campaigns, using knowledge of digital tools and platforms
- Establish deep understanding of key stakeholder segments informed by data in order to connect the right message to the right stakeholder on the right platforms at the right time; analyze performance and iterate to optimize
- Serve as organizational expert in execution of spend, delivery and performance of all digital ads/paid media, currently including Facebook suite (Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp) and Google ads and search; stay abreast of trends and emerging technologies relevant to GHS clients
- Serve as organizational expert in using email marketing, in combination with other tactics, to identiy and deliver bespoke audiences for client activities including virtual events; select and develop a new GHS CRM platform and process
- Partner with GHS project teams to plan ongoing digital and social content needs, having experience with a range of communication mediums including static messages, animated and short videos
- Build influencer marketing program to increase visibility of social messages in campaign
- Set production schedules and ensure all campaigns are delivered in a timely and high-quality manner; connect to appropriate vendors/freelancers in production, video, animation, etc.
- Develop digital and campaign specific KPIs and benchmarks to achieve campaign goals and objectives
-Work with digital design and social media groups to support the strategy and creation of GHS’ own digital content and growth of digital media platforms including the GHS website and all owned social media especially twitter and Instagram
-Hire, train and mentor a team of professionals to build a world class digital marketing practice
Experience and skills required
- Bachelor’s Degree, Facebook Blueprint Certified
- 6+ years; experience in digital marketing and leveraging data to make marketing decisions
- Digital agency experience encouraged
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative and engaging paid media campaigns; social good or political campaigns
- Demonstrated clear, direct communication style, with the ability to lead and educate project and firm leadership on current and future digital trends
- Self-starter, strong problem-solving skills, and analytical mindset with excellent attention to details
- Strong communication and project management skills working with a wide range of stakeholders across the company
- Experience across multiple digital channels, included but not limited to paid social (e.g. Facebook, Twitter), paid search (e.g. Google Ads, Bing), display/programmatic, sponsored content (i.e. Taboola)
- Experience working with web analytics, data visualization and optimization tools – e.g. Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Google
