PR & Influencer Marketing Coordinator - West Elm
Job Description
As the Public Relations + Events Coordinator, you will play a large role in supporting the PR and Partnerships team in driving brand awareness and loyalty through press, influencer marketing, and consumer marketing . This role will report to the Public Relations + Influencer Marketing Associate.

You are a hustler in anything you do and follow through with results – no project is too big or too small. You are passionate about communications and driving West Elm’s brand narrative forward by executing tactics with creativity, precision and intention. You’re analytical, energized by uncovering new insights and don’t shy away from numbers to showcase results. You understand direction and ask thoughtful questions but are a self-starter and a problem solver to get the job done. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in influencer marketing and media relations (agency or in-house), an appetite for current and upcoming media + entertainment culture, a familiarity with event planning and an understanding of the evolving world of media and brand storytelling.
Essential Responsibilities
- Influencer Marketing:
- Maintain an ongoing awareness of trends in the social media landscape including the tracking of current brand influencer partners, identifying new celebrity + influencer partnership opportunities, and monitoring for upcoming content trends across Instagram and Tik Tok.
- Assist PR + Influencer Marketing lead with influencer marketing campaign execution, including: Drafting of creative campaign briefs, collaborating with merchandising teams to identify product opportunities, vetting and compiling influencer lists, product trafficking, monitoring coverage and compiling campaign reports.
- Execute large home makeover projects with strong organization and detail.
- Develop system for tracking ongoing projects including partners, budget, and current timeline for upcoming brand mentions.
- Press + Media Relations:
- Support larger brand PR strategy with media relations and press outreach supporting brand campaigns and announcements across home and lifestyle publications including print, broadcast, and online mediums.
- Maintain ongoing dialogue with key media contacts to drive proactive and reactive media coverage.
- Manage inbound press inquiries, fulfilling image and sample requests and credit sheets.
- Initiate drafting of core press materials needed to generate press coverage supporting brand announcements including press releases and creative pitches.
- Maintain a current database of media contacts organized by medium, location and news beat.
Research and identify relevant contacts for targeted outreach. - Monitor the media cycle daily to ensure internal teams are informed of industry, media, and competitor news, as well as thought leadership opportunities and awards, highlighting new/interesting opportunities for the brand.
- Work with internal merchant teams to identify key seasonal products & stories; Leverage an understanding of the ongoing news cycle to oversee imagery creation needed to secure product features in media publications.
- Event Production:
- Support event production needs including coordination, product trafficking, creation of creative collateral with internal teams, vendor management + invoicing, briefing books and staffing.
- Administrative:
- Manage administrative duties including maintaining the team calendar to reflect key brand moments and timelines, invoice processing, and organizing on-site product and supplies inventory.
- Track, monitor and report incoming press and influencer marketing coverage on a daily + weekly basis and support monthly internal reporting and analysis of performance.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in PR/Marketing/Journalism/Communications preferred
- 2-3 years of PR, influencer marketing, communications, events and/or marketing experience in a professional setting.
- Strong oral and interpersonal skills. Can communicate professionally, effectively, and concisely with ease.
- Sharp writing skills. Has experience drafting formal media-facing and executive-ready documents.
- Track record for securing consumer brand placements in lifestyle and/or home publications.
- Excellent organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize your to-do list, be resourceful and complete responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Understand timelines and plan accordingly to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and problem solve.
- Experience with PR platforms including Cision and/or Trendkite are required.
- Experience with Photoshop (basic skills), Wordpress, Prezly and CreatorIQ are a plus.
