Director, Public Relations & Influencer Marketing

This position 1) leads and directs the global strategy of Public Relations and Influencer marketing to generate reach and engagement, build community and participation, inspire product trial and positive awareness towards the brand story and products, and ultimately drive sales; 2) strategically create and manage the execution of global Customer and Influencer Events, and 3) lead the identification and management of relationships with Brand Ambassadors and Expert Influencers to support brand goals and increase client engagement, including brand founders where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the annual strategy for American Crew & CND PR & Influencer engagement to support the macro brand objectives
  • Collaborate with VPs of Marketing, Digital and Education to ensure complete integration with those functions
  • Manage agencies, where appropriate, and ensure they are reaching their KPIs
  • Report directly to the Global General Manager and ensure alignment]
  • Work collaboratively with the key markets to ensure their needs are understood and met with global assets

Influencer and Customer Events

  • Flawless execution of Influencer and Consumer activities and events
  • Create and drive consistent global Influencer strategies
  • Develop and manage the execution of clear and measurable Influencer plans
  • Develop strategy, KPI’s and proposed structure for identified influencer programs and activations
  • Maintain a global Influencer process that will eliminate redundancy of efforts for leading edge management of product launches, interviews, Q&A development for the Brand Ambassadors, etc.
  • Performs influencer outreach to potential influencers to engage and discuss opportunities and contract negotiations

Public Relations

  • Owning timelines and communication plans for all influencer and consumer event efforts including product launches, sponsorships, tie-ins, talent announcements (Brand Ambassadors, Directors, etc).
  • Forging and maintaining relationships with key editors and beauty influencers and press to improve product coverage and set brands up as go-to products with consumers
  • Lead cross functional relationships with brand, product development and other key departments within the company to identify critical product differentiation for storytelling on both regular business and new products
  • Accountable for ensuring key stakeholders (both internal and external) are informed, updated and supportive of direction and plans
  • Drive consistency of brand messaging to beauty press and beauty professionals around the globe
  • Handles communications with influencers and partners to plan, schedule, execute, and measure influencer programs
  • Maintain an active partnership with outside agencies including PR, social and advertising agencies

Talent Management

Assist in identifying and managing Global Brand Ambassadors, where appropriate.

  • Generate editorial opportunities to increase global coverage and affiliation with our brands
  • Leverage time with talent to further expand overall relationships and build goodwill towards our brands

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in PR, Communications, Marketing or related field
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Experience working with social engagement tools & platforms (i.e. Hootsuite, Sprinklr)
  • Prior experience within the beauty industry strongly preferred
  • Experience managing multiple budgets
  • A proactive self-starter with a can-do attitude
  • Proven track record of success
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Media training a plus
  • Expertise in dealing with the press and influencers
  • Collaborative influencing and leadership skills as evidenced by the ability to motivate and build consensus and partnerships
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization both orally and written
  • Dynamic, able to move quickly with program implementation and maintain focus amid change
  • Consultative approach to planning and problem solving
  • Strong follow up skills
  • Strong attention to details and timelines
