160over90 is seeking a Strategy Director to join the Cultural Strategy and Planning team. The Director will play an integral role within the group and will help lead brand strategy and brand planning efforts across the marketing spectrum spanning omnichannel planning, advertising, activations / experiential, digital, social, partnerships and integrations for premier clients such as AB InBev, Marriott, Visa, USAA, Under Armour, Audi, etc.
The Cultural Strategy and Planning team works closely with brands to better understand their challenges, uncover new opportunities and develop strategies to help reach their objectives. We care about what our audience cares about and we not only help to define who that audience is, but we mine/uncover the cultural and industry forces that shape their mindset. We work across all channels helping our clients connect into culture, so they can better connect with consumers.
You should be curious and turn research into actionable and inspiring strategies that create meaningful impact with consumers, brands, and businesses. You are as much data-driven as you are passionate about the goings-on’s in culture, entertainment, sports, and fashion.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the strategic leader for specific brands/projects, including new business opportunities
- Work with client management leads across all business verticals -serving as their partner in maintaining and growing client opportunities.
- Partner with creative teams – helping to guide and inspire them at every touchpoint – from brief development to briefing to ideation, etc.
- Work with the Analytics team to identify research/data gaps, develop hypotheses, and gain a more comprehensive view of the audience, category landscape or opportunity at large.
- Thorough and thoughtful analysis of business/brand, category, consumer and cultural trends that highlights opportunities for clients’ businesses and inform strategic output
- Translate information and intel into inspriring insights and actionable strategies – responsible for development of briefs, narratives and frameworks for brands
- Develop future thinking cultural trend presentations. Always be on the forefront of culture – identifying societal and industry trends that will affect our consumers and brands.
- Culture Seeker - be invested in what’s new in the world. Flag new and creative ideas and trends across advertising, marketing, strategy, and culture (tech, fashion, entertainment, sports, and music)
- In addition to working on specific brands, this role will also support the senior department leads in shaping insights and strategies, as well as furthering thought-leadership both internally and externally.
- Be a team player. Show initiative on where you can add value throughout projects and across various brand teams. Look for new opportunities where strategy can play a pivtotal role for the brand.
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor or Masters degree: Marketing, Advertising or Communications preferred, not required
- Minimum 7 years of Strategy experience or equivalent
- Prior experience in advertising, branding, marketing or Ad school is highly regarded
- Demonstrable research knowledge -- working with both primary and secondary research as well as qualitative and quantitative methodologies/data
- Is familiar and comfortable with a broad range of approaches for building brands including customer journey, audience segmentation, communications/connections planning, social media, influencer marketing, etc.
- Able to combine rigor with reduction. Taking on a comprehensive approach to information, while being able to distill it down to the most poignant insights and opportunities.
- Be comfortable with public speaking and exhibit strong presentation abilities
- Strong PowerPoint and/or Keynote expertise - including, but not limited to, an eye for design and understanding how to communicate visually
- Capable of managing and working on multiple projects within tight deadlines
- Be curious, with a thirst for understanding human behavior and the influences that shape consumer choice
