SutherlandGold is a PR agency specializing in the tech industry where ambitious, creatives hit go. We’re dedicated to the art of storytelling and helping companies own their narrative to inspire action in their target audience. We work with market leaders and soon-to-be change makers to develop positioning and establish their thought leadership in their field.

While we have offices in San Francisco and New York, we are open to the Vice President being remote. Ideally we are looking for someone on, or close to, the West Coast.

The Vice President is a leader within the agency, driving growth, client satisfaction and staff development. You will serve as a mentor, manager and lead example for all account teams on client management, quality assurance, staff development and strategic guidance.

The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with deep knowledge in various tech sectors, enjoys building talented teams and is looking for the opportunity and challenge to help lead the growth of the agency. Candidates should also have a strong network and not afraid to tap into that network to establish new client relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients at senior level, working as a trusted advisor and partner to develop impactful business solutions
  • Architect and guide client contracts and business plans
  • Responsible for the overall leadership, strategy and direction of clients
  • Partner with clients to tell their unique stories by building brands that are relevant and resonate with audiences they need to reach and mobilize.
  • Oversee the development and execution of communications programs across all public relations including major media focus, new products, and influencer marketing and building great brand experience on and off line.

New Business

  • Vet and lead new business opportunities
  • Grow scope and budget for existing business
  • Work with the Executive Team to define the agency’s approach to vetting and pursuing new business leads

Agency leadership

  • Provide strategic counsel, guidance and leadership to staff
  • Attract top talent to the agency and coach, motivate and retain staff
  • Manage cross-functional teams, including creative, influencers, media strategists and paid media
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team to actively help to get our team on board with our vision as well as practices and policies
  • Ensure metrics are achieved

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years marketing and communications experience; minimum 3 years at a PR agency
  • Strong technology experience
  • Direct experience supervising individuals and managing teams
  • Strong ability to model projects, resources, and map to revenue
  • Ability to quickly develop an understanding of complex products, services and solutions
