Amazon Web Services’ (AWS), Global Brand and Advertising team is looking for a driven and dynamic Head of Social Media. If you thrive in complex and fast-paced environments and can effortlessly pivot from mobilizing and scaling a team, tapping into cultural conversations, creating high and low fidelity social-first content and programs– this role is for you!

We are looking for a passionate, social marketing leader with broad understanding of the social landscape. The Head of Social Media will oversee all AWS primary handles as well as 50+ sub-accounts that are regional or interest based. You will own each element of social, from planning and measurement to building world-class creative. You will manage a team of 5+ with a focus on driving awareness of AWS as a leader in Cloud computing and shifting perceptions among our target audience of business decision makers and technical builders.

The Head of Social Marketing works closely with leaders and teams across AWS, Amazon, Creative, Field Marketing, PR, and external partners. You will work to implement processes that raise the bar and establish a best-in-class content strategy. You will manage critical AWS social media programs including internal training and support, employee use of social media, publishing tools, community management and employee amplification programs.

Responsibilities Include

  • Oversee the ideation, planning, and publishing of all AWS social platforms including strategy, ideation, voice, operations and analytics
  • Constantly identify best practices, optimizations and operational improvements to maximize social outputs and creativity
  • Explore and develop best-in class, high-performing social creative that generates conversation/engagement and drives interest that are critical for AWS
  • Build thoughtful social marketing processes and efficient workflow to obtain and allocate resources to achieve strategic and operating goals
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement new social activations and series that contribute to driving top of mind awareness and consideration as well as affinity for AWS
  • Identify and action on new opportunities and tests within the social space while practicing ruthless prioritization
  • Lead social influencer marketing and community management, working with internal teams and external partners to drive brand representation through authentic social interactions while optimizing for growth
  • Identify, measure and report against KPIs across all social channels. Use analytics and insights to drive testing and optimization strategies.
  • Regularly report to internal partners, senior leadership, and external parties on social media successes and opportunities
  • Oversee social moderation and partner with PR, Legal, and Customer Service teams to promote two-way conversation and transparent communication across channels, while building safe spaces for representation in social
  • Lead and inspire a team of social media marketers with a variety of skill sets, and external agencies to develop and execute on social plans. Serve as the strategic connector to gain alignment and amplify opportunities across all parts of your team

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of marketing experience
  • Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements
  • Experience managing and developing a team of 5+ people
  • Experience directly devising and executing Global large-scale social media campaigns with a track record of growing audiences and delivering on engagement metrics.
  • Advanced social measurement experience including use of listening, monitoring and boosting.
  • The right person in this role will also be able to deal with ambiguity and take the lead in defining frameworks where no prior examples exist.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
  • Excellent understanding of B2B brand strategies especially in the digital and high-technology space.
  • Ability to create innovative new marketing programs that generate results.
  • Experience creating and owning successful large scale social programs
  • High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interact with senior management on a regular basis.
  • Comfort and proficiency at leveraging precious resources, including marketing budgets and personnel resources.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is expected.
  • History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
