Savage X Fenty is currently looking for a Director, PR & Events to join the team!

How do you fit in?

As the Director, PR & Events, you will be responsible for facilitating the day-to-day PR and Brand Image Event functions, while creating and driving cohesive and dynamic communications strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic communications planning, event management and production. They must demonstrate strong judgement, be resourceful, have sharp negotiation skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to excel in cross functional collaboration with multiple internal and external partners and agencies. This role is multi-disciplined as we look for a candidate that not only has the deep understanding and thought leadership in traditional public relations functions, but also one who can rise to the occasion and take ownership on high profile events that the brand executes.

This position will report to the VP, Brand & Communications – Savage X Fenty

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the VP, Brand & Communications to define the global communications strategy and objectives for the brand.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the communications strategy to drive consumer demand by leveraging the power of the press, media, social media, collaborations, celebrity & key influencers communities.
  • Leverage strong relationships with senior fashion and lifestyle editors; actively and effectively manage all relationships with relevant PR agency partners.
  • Manage approvals for internal and external messaging.
  • Draft press releases.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure goals are aligned, plans are properly communicated and to identify new and compelling storytelling opportunities.
  • Partner closely with brand marketing, acquisition and social media teams to create 360 campaigns.
  • Concept, plan and manage brand image events alongside the VP, Brand & Communications, external partners and production & PR agencies, inclusive of end-to-end production elements – creative, glam, ROS, budget, staffing etc. – and FOH support inclusive of invitations, guest lists (consumers, vips, influencers) and press strategy. Ensuring all is managed to excellent execution.
  • Lead crossfunctional kick-off meetings and ongoing internal communication for all brand image events.
  • Support VP, Brand & Communications on all elements related to Brand Partnerships including managing talent and collaborations, collating assets, routing approvals.
  • Collaborate with the Brand Ambassador and Influencer Marketing teams by providing areas of opportunity in which specific influencers or brand partners could be leveraged across more large scale partnerships and branded moments.
  • Manage brand executives on media activities.
  • Manage and provide leadership to direct reports on the PR team.
  • Create reports and update all internal documents and trackers in relation to functions of this role.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • 10 years of experience in PR and Events.
  • Bachelor’s degree; major or concentration in marketing / PR or relevant experience.
  • Strong in-house PR experience mixed with agency as foundation of career in communications. Experience in brand partnerships and working directly with VIPs and agents / managers a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge about the media landscape with strong contacts.
  • Excellent project manager with experience in end to end event production .
  • Excels in a high execution-focused environment, breaking down tasks into clear project plans.
  • Must be an idea generator.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong facilitation and relationship building skills, comfort working in direct and indirect management of teams, with multiple stakeholders, while driving momentum.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal, negotiation and influencing skills with an ability to gain buy in from multiple stakeholders.
  • High emotional intelligence and agility when communicating at all levels within the organization and externally.
  • Must be a resourceful self-starter with excellent time management skills.
  • Thrives in a high pressure, fast paced business environment, operating with a sense of urgency, be a driven contributor and work effectively and collaboratively with team members.
  • Detailed-oriented, highly organized with the ability to manage multiple project deadlines efficiently.
  • Enthusiastic team player with the flexibility to re-prioritize, multi-task and switch tasks fluidly to be nimble with demands and changes in the business - can decide and act without having the total picture and can comfortably handle ambiguity with the ability to drive clarity for the team; remains calm and positive under stress.
  • Quick learner, when facing new problems; open to change; enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks; quickly grasps the essence and the underlying goal of anything.
