About This Role
Audible (a division of Amazon Entertainment) is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel to join our legal team supporting our growing Marketing, Communications and Customer Service orgs in the U.S. and Canada. You will work closely with the business, providing day-to-day legal input on business and strategy as well as serving as primary legal support on a variety of marketing and other agreements. You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways. This position is based at our Newark, NJ campus – 20 minutes from Manhattan, with some work-from-home flexibility.
As Associate Corporate Counsel, you will...
- Provide ongoing legal counsel across a range of fields, including product marketing, paid media, intellectual property, social media/influencer marketing, email marketing, children’s advertising, and consumer rights generally.
- Structure, draft and negotiate marketing, promotional, influencer, business development and other commercial agreements.
- Help to create and deliver legal trainings and self-service reference guides for the business.
Basic Qualifications
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar.
- 2+ years of experience practicing law as a transactional attorney, preferably with some of that time spent working in IP or Compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- A mix of transactional, marketing, privacy, consumer protection, and other regulatory experience.
- Familiarity with negative option business models and related regulations.
- Creativity, self-awareness, and a good sense of humor.
- Incisive business as well as legal instincts.
- Sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Prowess in delivering results independently, as well as collaboratively.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, and commitment to follow through and meet deadlines.
- Sharp analytical and communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest or other background in tech/digital media and entertainment, coupled with an ability to remain nimble, learn, be curious, and adapt to a changing world
