Who We Are
Electives is training your employees will love, from people they'll never forget.
Corporate training sucks. Think of the hours wasted on obligatory “Diversity Training,” mind-numbing “Innovation Workshops,” and cringe-worthy “Team-Building Exercises.” We’ve all done it, often with quiet disdain and outward enthusiasm.
It’s a shame. The Great Resignation is powered in part by people who’ve had enough of jobs that aren’t helping them grow. Today we all want — we all deserve — to feel like we’re advancing personally and professionally in the work we spend much of our waking hours doing. Companies that do that will have an advantage hiring, developing, and keeping the best people in a given category. And in the end, the company with the best people usually wins.
Electives helps companies win by helping their people grow. Our business is growing fast, and having just raised our Series A from top investors, we’re ready to scale our team.
Mission and Vision
We’re building a new kind of Learning and Development (L&D) and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) platform that connects employees to extraordinary teachers - from pro athletes, FBI agents, top professors, social justice advocates and more. We believe great teachers can be life-changing so we help organizations facilitate learning experiences that their employees will never forget.
Electives is backed by top investors, including Accomplice, Boston Seed, Bertelsmann Media, G20 Ventures, and Jerod Mayo.
Our Culture
Since we help drive learning cultures at other organizations, it’s no surprise that culture is extremely important to us. We strive to attract people who:
- Embrace differences and actively seek as well as respectfully express perspectives; our best learning comes from our differences.
- Take ownership, roll up our sleeves and do something when we see an improvement opportunity.
- Are bold and try new ways of solving old problems. After all, we are trying to change the face of learning in the workplace.
- Commit to the best idea regardless of where it came from. Innovation is more important than tenure or titles.
- Have a growth mindset. We are building something new that does not exist; we do not have all the answers, but are confident we can find them.
- Play the long game and don't take shortcuts. We make decisions that build products and relationships for the future.
- Have each other's back and always look for ways to elevate their coworkers. We succeed as a team and we fail as a team.
Who You Are
The right person for this job…
- Has a track record of results, driving revenue and accelerating growth. 5-10 years in marketing leadership roles, including experience leading high-performing teams in high-growth B2B startups.
- Is really smart, listens intently, synthesizes information naturally, and acts fast.
- Understands what it means to be an effective storyteller, and is one.
- Is a digital marketing ninja, with experience driving inbound programs, influencer marketing, events, email, and marketing automation.
- Has deep experience and strong views on the digital marketing stack we’ll need to win in 2023, not in 2018.
- Knows great people, and can attract them to a team culture that lets them grow and thrive.
- Can take ownership of business results rather than just follow instructions.
- Needs to be held back rather than pushed.
- Leads by example, rolling up their sleeves and doing what it takes to deliver.
What You'll Do
- Help us grow faster, making every dollar we spend on sales more productive.
- Define and execute our marketing strategy. Help us prioritize strategic goals, define measurable objectives, focus on strategies that will work, execute tactics that break through, and build a plan to deliver it all on-time and on-budget.
- Refine that plan as we learn more. Track, report, and improve marketing performance across programs and channels. Figure out what works, and do more of it; Learn what doesn’t and stop on a dime.
- Tighten up our story and identity; help define and establish our brand among forward thinking leaders of HR and People Ops, at companies who care about helping their employees grow.
- Coordinate with the product teams to launch new solutions into the market.
- Create and lead a high performing, meat-eating, metrics-driven marketing organization.
- Get close to sales. Understand them. Coach them. Become invaluable to them.
Benefits
- Do work that matters. Our team has massive dreams to change how we think about learning as adults and how we can shape the future of workplace culture.
- Be a part of the founding team. As one of our earliest employees, your ideas, passion, and output will become part of our core DNA.
- Get paid. We provide competitive salary, equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, and 401K contributions). Electives will also make a donation to the charity of your choice during your first week.
- Spend time with the people you love. Paid and flexible vacation, time-off, sick, and parental leave policies, alongside a fully-remote work culture, supported by a home office stipend.
- Grow, professionally and personally. Every employee can take any Elective at any point. We’ll also provide a learning stipend to learn and grow on your own.
