The Network & Acquirer Solutions team (NAS) is the heart of the American Express Enterprise, powering billions of transactions through the global payments processing network that we develop and manage. The NAS team is driving a strategic, multi-year transformation to modernize the Network and create innovative products, services, and capabilities – for the whole Enterprise – that will anticipate the needs of customers by enabling more types of payments.
About This Role
The Network Strategy & Partner Enagement Sr Manager will be a part of the Network Strategy team, responsible for shaping the “Network of the future”. This global team is looking to define the capabilities required to drive business differentiation, growth, and deliver a digital global payments Network that is an enabler of rapid innovation. Furthermore, the Network Strategy team is critical in the American Express Network’s distribution and go-to-market strategy and governance.
This role is an exciting opportunity to define distribution and go-to-market strategy for Network solutions as well as developing new business opportunities to drive the value proposition of the Network as core to the American Express Payment Model. The Manager/Senior Manager of Network Strategy & Partner Engagement will focus on the following key responsibilities.
- Understand the strategy of individual products and their current channel approach (focus on digital products)
- Perform research, analysis and synthesis to understand the pain points and needs from channel participants
- Synthesize into a go-to-market strategy for Network Participants, while driving cross-products opportunities and strategic implications for AXP
- Support sales by driving account ownership, target setting/tracking, and support with collaterals and product expertise
- Lead and coordinate pipeline management, including building a pipeline for select network products, generating leads, effectively identifying partner needs, as well as leading and facilitating partner discussions and negotiations
- Act as the central point across AXP teams, between product owners, sales owners, and technical support organizations
- Assess inefficiencies, pain points, and create improvement processes and feedback loop with product team for continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Relevant experience: Track record of successful Network solution management developing new product strategies, go-to-market plans, and product roadmaps in financial services industry. Relevant financial industry experience desired.
- Passion for payments and innovation: Passion to drive delivery in a fast-moving and innovative environment. Deep knowledge of payments industry and disruptive technologies.
- Thought leadership: Ability to diagnose, synthesize and translate the current state of business and make a proposal for enhancement identifying opportunities for a revenue stream.
- Analytics: Ability to gather and synthesize data, performing analysis and drawing out strategic insights to inform recommendations
- Transformation spirit: Track record for change management and delivery in complex and highly-matrix organizations. Result-oriented and familiar with changes, willing to challenge the status quo to effectively compete and differentiate in a rapidly changing environment.
- Cross-functional experience: Experience leading and managing cross-functional projects.
- Intellectual curiosity: High-intellectual curiosity, out-of-the-box, strategic risk-taking, creative & critical thinker with experience in complex problem solving and strategic thought leadership.
- Entrepreneurship: Ability to mobilize and lead cross-functional team collaboration to drive results in a fast paced, multi-partner environment with constant change. Demonstrated track record for driving results in complex and highly-matrixed organizations.
- Highly collaborative: Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver value beyond traditional means.
- Effective communicator and influencer: Ability to communicate complex topics in a clear manner and influence executive leadership. Excellent communication skills, proficient in developing excellent quality presentations and deliverables for an executive audience.
