The Opportunity:
Mattel continues to invest in social and influencer marketing for existing powerhouse brands and new product launches to increase reach, engagement and conversion for kids, shoppers and collectors.
With new investments in social production, digital asset management, project management and performance marketing solutions this role represents a highly visible opportunity to define and drive adoption of new processes, tools and solutions for brand and digital content teams integrating business goal setting broadly into the employee experience.
This role will contribute to immediate results and build future, next generation social media capabilities for the most iconic toy brands in the world. You will both create and promote the vision for a best-in-class social media and influencer marketing team and dive into brand strategies and priority global campaigns to ensure the team achieves exceptional results.
This is a highly cross-functional role, so we’re looking for a collaborator that will partner with commercial and marketing leadership to define a go-to-market social strategy that delivers results for stakeholders across global Grand Brand Marketing, Commercial, Media, Retail, Sales, Product, and Ecommerce/DTC teams.
What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Head of all aspects of planning, development, testing, implementing, reporting for social and influencer campaigns across Mattel. This includes setting goals and KPIs per the department and each campaign.
  • Responsible for all influencer activity and it’s connection to POS from annual to campaign level.
  • Align the annual digital strategy and activation of campaigns across platforms, engaging with brand teams, talent agencies and production teams to create premium assets to engage audiences
  • Create meaningful connections and conversations with fans and consumers, turning social monologues into Mattel driven dialogues.
  • Maintain high influencer viewership across brands, increase social reach & engagement while guiding the audience along the path to purchase
  • Oversee team’s management of paid aspects. If paid or contracted, ensure final creative and custom integrations are consistent with the brand brief
  • Anticipate and proactively mitigate issues that arise; consistently communicating with appropriate leads regarding updates on progress, relevant delays, or issues and budget implications
  • Build internal relationships with key partners including brand and legal ensuring common business outcomes and goals are met
  • Oversee team’s management of budget tracking across brands and plans
  • Coach and develop broad team of talent and digital experts

What We’re Looking For:

  • The ideal candidate has experience successfully building and managing social media and influencer marketing operations in large companies or agencies with highly visible IP.
  • 12+ years of relevant digital experience, with a focus on social and relationship building in the family and parenting space
  • Advanced knowledge of digital marketing and the influencer community
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize in an environment where key partners all expect to be a priority
  • Understanding of KPI’s as they pertain to influencers
  • Ability to influence partners and provide alternative solutions on requests that do not fall into strategy
  • Experience managing a large team; establishing a culture to attract and retain digital talent
  • Understanding of COPPA guidelines and FTC guidelines
  • Experience with Social media and influencer marketing SaaS and PM platforms

Skills:

  • Superior strategic-thinking skills that clearly articulate approach to solving problems and added value to our consumers and business partners
  • Advanced understanding of new and emerging social media and video platforms, influencer marketing, content and trends
  • Strong interpersonal skills to own internal and external social media agency and client relationships for digital media and other related services
  • Digital campaign development and management with a primary focus on paid social
  • Financial budgeting, forecasting & reporting
  • Digital optimization, performance analysis, A/B and multivariate testing, audience segmentation, creative partnerships
  • Confident leadership and communication skills that inspires and motivates a large team of social media and influencer experts while guiding career growth.
  • Proven negotiation skills to influence brands and teams to think outside the box and try new ways of engaging consumers.
  • Social-first creative skills that demonstrate the ability to write compelling briefs that differentiate owned, earned and paid social strategies to reach bold business and marketing objectives.
