VP of Consumer Engagement
Job Description
As the VP of Consumer Engagement for Vital Proteins, you will shape Vital’s consumer marketing practice, translating commercial priorities into consumer facing strategies that build the brand and drives the business. This critical role will help position our brand to grow by embedding Vital Proteins within wellness culture and building consumer belief in the benefits of our products. The primary goals being to drive deeper brand relevancy and business growth through the intersection of brand strategy, creative concepts, channel media strategy (earned, owned, paid) and influencer marketing. You will work closely with internal and external partners to bring to life Vital Proteins’ role in key moments throughout the wellness calendar, translate commercial priorities into consumer passions and collaborate with internal partners to define the Vital Proteins voice going forward.
As the consumer marketing lead for Vital Proteins, you will be responsible for campaigns, always on marketing and influencer engagement. This position interacts with nearly every function within the business at a leadership level. The ideal candidate is a strong inspirational team leader who can manage multiple senior stakeholders, has a proven track record of translating business opportunity into communication strategy and execution, as well an understanding of the quickly evolving modern marketing media environment. As a people leader, this candidate should also be effective at enhancing leadership and mentorship within the internal organization and managing agency relationships, demonstrating an ability to empower the teams while providing the vision for growing future Brand relevancy, equity, and share.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a large cross-functional marketing team with w/multiple direct reports to:
- Partner with CMO and In-House Creative Agency to establish, creative strategy, voice, and tone for the Vital Proteins brand
- Lead Integrated annual brand marketing planning for consumer facing programming
- Develop campaign strategies that will build the brand and deliver for the business
- Build 365 consumer engagement plans across digital/social channels.
- Collaborate with e-commerce and retail marketing teams to maximize impact across consumer touch points
- Lead Agency Relationships to maximize the partnerships (Media, PR, Creative)
- Evolve Marketing/Collaborator/Influencer Content Strategy to enhance endemic, partner, and platform creative executions
- Instigate a brand partnerships strategy, lead through executions
- Build a measurement mindset, establish KPIs, iterate and evolve executions to maximize investments through data fueled insights
- Build relationships and collaborate w/Senior Leaders across multiple functions (Brand Strategy/Insights, Sales, Finance, Innovation, HR) to deliver upon growth strategies
- Cross-Functional Team Leadership: provide inspirational leadership and deep marketing capability to a diverse team challenged with w/accelerated growth
Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum Qualification: Undergraduate Degree
- Master’s Degree (MBA) Preferred
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 12-15 years prior Consumer Marketing experience (if undergrad degree only) OR 8 years of prior Marketing experience (if Advanced degree)
- CPG marketing and/or Strategic Planning (agency side) expertise strongly preferred
Skills/Capabilities:
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, ability to work independently and with a team.
- Proven expertise in analyzing business and consumer trends/insights and translating them into effective creative strategies that build audience growth, affinity, and engagement.
- Deep understanding of the media landscape, how its evolving and how to integrate creative and media to maximize impact.
- Passionate about creativity and the wellness cultural landscape
- A strategic thinker with a high emotional IQ
- Digital native with expertise in building a brand’s voice in social, from storytelling pillars to audience development
- Entrepreneurial spirit, highly collaborative, strategic mindset, and detail-oriented

- A strength in storytelling with an ability to distill an insight and turn it into inspiration
- Prior experience managing & inspiring a team to disrupt the status quo
