BetterUp
San Francisco, CA, USA ⚠ [Archived] No Longer Accepting Applicants

Let’s face it, a company whose mission is human transformation better have some fresh thinking about the employer/employee relationship.

We do. We can’t cram it all in here, but you’ll start noticing it from the first interview.

Even our candidate experience is different. And when you get an offer from us (and accept it), you get way more than a paycheck. You get a personal BetterUp Coach, a development plan, a trained and coached manager, the most amazing team you’ve ever met (yes, each with their own personal BetterUp Coach), and most importantly, work that matters.

This makes for a remarkably focused and fulfilling work experience. Frankly, it’s not for everyone. But for people with fire in their belly, it’s a game-changing, career-defining, soul-lifting move.

Join us and we promise you the most intense and fulfilling years of your career, doing life-changing work in a fun, inventive, soulful culture.

If that sounds exciting—and the job description below feels like a fit—we really should start talking.

As a Strategy and Operations Manager on the Network Optimization team, you will develop and implement strategies to balance network supply and demand in an optimal way for members, coaches, and BetterUp. After detecting insights and patterns through data, you will develop a working model or system to capitalize on opportunities that you find. You will then collaborate with cross-functional partners (such as Analytics, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Coach Operations) to experiment with different approaches and ultimately systematize a solution.

An ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, and analytics. They can intuitively detect patterns through data while maintaining a high attention to detail. They are equally adept at developing a compelling strategic framework as they are at thinking tactically about how to execute on an idea. They balance a high level of intrinsic curiosity with a bias towards action through cross-functional collaboration. This is a perfect role for a strong problem solver who is also a strong operator, leader, and influencer.

What You’ll Do

  • Design supply/demand optimization systems that can scale, defining requirements that can enable operationalization or productization
  • Work autonomously and creatively in an ambiguous environment, seeking to uncover and solve complex operational problems relating to optimization
  • Bring both a creative and scientific approach to data-driven problem-solving: detecting patterns through data, developing working models to explain those patterns, and creating an experimental design to test those models
  • Develop and present the business case for new optimization opportunities to cross-functional leaders
  • Masterfully influence, collaborate and communicate across diverse stakeholders, including regular engagement with coaches, Network Operations, Analytics, Labs, Sales, and Product
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to elevate our existing operations through data-driven insights and improved stakeholder data alignment

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in strategy management, operations management, product operations, or management consulting role (prior experience with supply/demand forecasting preferred)
  • Skilled at analyzing problems and driving decisions through data (experience with SQL data strongly preferred; experience with BI tools like Looker and CRM systems like Salesforce a plus)
  • Proven ability to quickly climb new learning curves with a strong bias towards action and experimentation
  • Ability to navigate multiple levels of thinking; you can consider high-level strategic objectives when creating a mental model to address a problem as well as tactical considerations when designing an operational solution
  • Experience owning a process or system; ability to master an existing complex process and think critically about ways to make it even better
  • Strong oral & written communication skills- can communicate findings clearly and influence cross-functional stakeholders to drive forward process improvements
