About The Role
Wild Alaskan Company is seeking a Director of Brand Media to create and lead our brand (above-the-line) media and advertising function. This is a new position within the recently formed Brand function, so you will be getting in at the ground level to help design and scale the strategy. Reporting into the SVP of Brand and initially acting as a scrappy team of one, you will lead everything from the creation of Wild Alaskan Company’s brand media strategy, to the planning, buying, and media reporting of brand campaigns.
As Director of Brand Media, you will work in close partnership with the Brand, Marketing, Creative, Data, Finance and Product teams to design and execute full-funnel consumer journeys that drive results for the brand and the business. Ultimately, you will be responsible for creating and serving demand for the brand with new and existing audiences, in new and existing channels.
About You
The ideal candidate is someone who is experienced in taking brand and business objectives and translating them into impactful media strategies all while maintaining a test-and-learn mindset with a commitment to ongoing experimentation and optimization.
You will be successful if you are skilled in communications planning, insight development, digital & offline media channels activation and full-funnel measurement. You should also have direct experience creating or optimizing a unified measurement approach across paid media, social/content, influencer, experiential and PR.
Core Responsibilities
- Leads the development of long-term brand media strategy, advertising, brand partnerships/sponsorships, while supporting the team in ongoing campaigns and brand/business objectives
- Partners with the marketing and data team to ensure that measurement frameworks, reporting cadences and campaign optimizations are taking place
- Maintains and grows key marketplace relationships, including senior-level media and technology platform contacts.
- Current on media/partnership trends and best practices.
- Oversees the creation of audience journeys, engagement frameworks, campaign ecosystems, etc.
- Manage external partners and resources as needed to deliver on the brand strategy (note that we’re looking for the role to manage a majority of the planning/buying with support from the marketing team).
- Oversee brand partnerships, influencer and ambassador programs, and collaborations in partnership with the Brand and Marketing teams.
- Manage the brand media budget to deliver on brand objectives, business KPIs, and audience/member targets.
- Work in close collaboration with the performance and growth marketing teams to ensure “full funnel” cohesion in our media strategy and budgets (ensure that brand media seamlessly feeds into the full-funnel/performance marketing strategy).
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 10+ years working in media, advertising, brand marketing.
- Creative and courageous media/brand thinker with a proven track record of both leveraging proven strategies, as well as creating new ones that break the mold and achieve results for the brand/business/products.
- Deeply analytical with strong financial acumen and ability to utilize data to optimize investment, messaging, and marketing mix.
- Experience with advocating for and integrating research and insights into campaign planning and strategy development.
- Deep understanding of the evolving media and competitive landscape with a point-of-view on a brand’s opportunity and challenges within it.
- Strong relationships with media partners, vendors/agencies, etc.
- Direct experience leading full-funnel campaigns, with proven ability to maximize brand investments by connecting dots between the brand, growth, loyalty, comms and social disciplines.
- Experience planning AND buying media.
- Experience leading media for a mission-led brand and/or brand mission campaigns.

The starting salary range for this position is $120,000 - $170,000, commensurate with skills and experience. Wild Alaskan’s benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance, 401k, PTO, safe/sick time, vacation, parental leave and more, as well as a delicious box of free fish every month.
