Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Global Grid Modernization Lead to support growing our Energy Business Line with a specific focus on grid modernization. The successful candidate will develop the global strategy and connect our technical expertise to support growth and delivery of grid modernization solutions to our clients. The successful candidate will focus on our clients’ transition to clean electricity, mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate. AECOM’s clients include private and public utilities; municipal, county, and state bureaus; developers; financial institutions, and other large public and private customers.
This is a remote role that can be based anywhere with expected travel across the United States and other global markets.
The responsibilities for this position includes, but may not be limited to, the following:
Client facing:
Meeting with clients to understand their grid modernization investment/schedule/challenges
Establish and develop relationships with regional public utilities, investor-owned utilities, developers, contractors and state and local government focused on the US and global markets
Mature AECOM’s Global strategy for Grid Modernization:
Connecting regional strategies and the Global Program Management strategies
Development of key performance metrics, client account plans, service offerings, market trend analysis and brand elevation/thought leadership
Technical Excellence:
Confirming application of AECOM’s quality and technical excellence processes/SME’s and identifying improvements
Improving Technical capabilities and building our teams
Digital Strategy/Innovation:
Focusing on data management/solutions for improved delivery and operations
Identify, develop, and propose new projects; negotiate partnerships and alliances; structure and close transactions; manage senior-level relationships internally and externally; and maintain a sharp focus on client satisfaction throughout project/program lifecycle Build collaborative solutions for clients across AECOM business lines Help recruit and build a team of professionals to support the growth strategy Support Energy projects and programs during execution and implementation Strong writing skills and ability to communicate complex processes or ideas
Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation, an acute passion for developing solutions, a deep and current understanding of regulatory structures and system operators, knowledge of the current pipeline of market levers and the ability to collaborate with a strategic interdisciplinary team of operations, technical experts, and business development professionals.
We are seeking an individual with strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, collaboration and leadership skills with a proven expertise in business development and market strategy development and execution. This individual must have demonstrated experience:
- Developing and approving strategic planning and pricing decisions.
- Wide-range knowledge of the geo-political influence on markets and engineering and construction industry.
- Leading sales, marketing, research, and planning activities.
- Applying sound professional judgment in solving a variety of complex and difficult problems requiring the use of initiative, ingenuity, and creativity.
AECOM’s Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients. Our understanding of the big picture – and the interconnection between generation, distribution, storage, and behind the meter services – allows us to deliver holistic strategies that improve and modernize next generation energy infrastructure. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A high caliber leader, who is already connected to client market leaders, and influencer with a proven track record of developing a market proposition, bid management, new business development and successful collaboration to lead diverse teams drawn from different practices is essential.
- BA/BS + EXTENSIVE experience in a renewables or adjacent industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 6 years of leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the development of highly technical client solutions including program management functions (e.g., budget, schedule, procurement).
- Demonstrated networking capabilities with public and private clients, power and energy industries, from inception through contract award and implementation.
- Track record managing and/or coordinating both internal and external subject matter experts in the areas of permitting, engineering, and supply chain.
- Significant experience of business development in Energy Transmission and Distribution infrastructure.
- Extensive experience in Bid Development/Winning new business in the Energy Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure
- Extensive and diversified experience and abilities, and knowledge of marketing and planning principles and practices.
- Knowledge of the financial, technical and political aspects driving both the energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, smart energy and utility industries and energy infrastructure development
- Strong business/commercial acumen and an understanding of major industry sector trends
- Strong executive presence. Expert influencing skills. Solid understanding of the industry and full life cycle of offshore program management
