This position actively participates in the strategy, business communications and Storytelling to promote the TPC Network, the PGA TOUR and its players in media beyond the core golf audience. This position will work with across both the TPC Network and PGA TOUR Communications team to produce and pitch business related content to both national and international media and business outlets. This position will also align with TOUR Storytelling to ensure timely TPC messaging. In addition, this position will assist with monitoring and tracking how media placements performed.
Qualifications
- Strong communications skills and writing experience is required.
- 3-4 years related experience required; experience working at an agency or within the sports communications and/or travel industry for three or more years is preferred.
- Experience with professional athletes, business/corporate communications and projects and event/project management is required.
- Knowledge and understanding of the TPC Network and PGA TOUR, its business models, history and media relationships.
- Knowledge of graphic design, including Adobe suite, and website management is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Manage communications and PR efforts for the TPC Network and TPC properties.
- Lead development of press releases, public relations campaigns and pitching efforts supporting TPC Network business and lifestyle related stories.
- Develop on-going media pitches to secure high value media placements in print, web, radio, TV, and social media.
- Actively participates in the strategy and Storytelling surrounding the positive impact the TPC Network and PGA TOUR has on supporting and improving the communities.
- Updating business media (lifestyle, travel, tourism, resort, golf, business) contact database.
- Develop and coordinate group media FAM trips and individual press trips for TPC properties to garner regional, and national editorial exposure.
- Researching / securing speaking and media pitching opportunities both domestic and abroad for TPC Network executives in the areas of golf course management, sustainability, and other related topics.
- Develop and maintain a media press kit. This includes copywriting, developing fact sheets, story ideas, press releases, and photography management.
- Manage TPC influencer strategy program.
- Assist in strategy to maintain and garner national awards and golf course rankings.
- Assist in drafting speeches and talking points upon request for TPC and TOUR executives.
- Track, design and execute reports of coverage.
- Participate in the Catalyst program, managing relationships with a select group of Players/Managers relative to their goals and Storytelling opportunities.
- Special projects or other duties as assigned relating to TPC and/or the PGA TOUR.
- Travel occasionally as necessary.
