Job Description Details

The PR Manager represents the voice of the brand across a variety of audiences and stakeholders, with primary focus driving marcomms strategy and positioning externally. This role is responsible for development and driving of durable programs and initiatives to position Zulily as an authority on our core customer, Mom, and using customer insights and data to create surgical PR programs that drive brand value across Marketing channels, educate prospective and existing customers to contribute to brand health.

What You’ll Do

  • Strategize, develop and execute short- and long-term PR plans for Zulily consumer PR
  • Lead consumer PR project management and support overall PR team with special projects
  • Identify, strategize, develop and execute programmatic to increase brand value via earned media to increase SEO and reverse cannibalization across paid marketing channels
  • Influence, collaborate, and support, with cross-functional teams to help drive overall integrated PR efforts and the company’s Marketing goals
  • Drive process improvements through the lens of PR to be a catalyst for experimentation, innovation, integrated marketing via the PR lens, and holistic digital/content strategy
  • Manage and provide strategic counsel to drive day-to-day relationship with PR agency to enable collective success mapped to KPIs
  • Develop marcomm strategies, press releases, presentations, pitches, briefing memos and messaging documents
  • Mine, analyze, and extrapolate newsworthy insights from internal, secondary/third-party data to derive actionable media strategy and build culture of experimentation
  • Own our brand consumer voice externally through effective, surgical media relations
  • Liaise with digital and social to develop strategies that promote Zulily as a leader in being the authority on Mom (core customer)
  • Develop and define thorough audience, culture, company and competitor research, actionable insights to drive highly effective and measurable campaigns and narrative outputs
  • Understand the positioning of the Zulily business; become the subject matter expert for brand positioning within the industry
  • Drive continuous improvement of team processes and efficiencies of how the team is executing

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required in a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a marcomms role either at an PR agency, company or a combination of both
  • Strength and extensive background in consumer PR
  • Business acumen and marketing acumen to enable effective PR strategies is a must
  • Project/Program Management offline/online experience required
  • Experience building/partnering/leveraging integrated marketing via PR to drive and measure brand awareness, consideration, loyalty, and brand value to marketing channels
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently, but also as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and juggle numerous different projects simultaneously a must
  • Purposeful communicator with superior communications skills written and verbal
  • Exceptional analytical skills with experience in deriving customer and consumer insights to drive strategic consumer PR creative
  • Experience working in e-commerce, retail or a consumer lifestyle brand preferred
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with peers, work effectively in a cross-functionally
  • Experience developing ambassador/influencer programs
  • Strength and understanding of branded social media platforms, content strategy and SEO
  • Working knowledge and aptitude for IR, AR, Crisis and Issues Management, CSR and other communication functions as they integrate into PR/Comms strategy
