Sovereign is an ecommerce and comparison shopping conglomerate that operates a number of fast-growing ventures. Headquartered in Charleston, SC, its team works across its family of brands to innovate, market and support its portfolio of ventures.

Sovereign is looking for an enthusiastic, passionate storyteller to help us amplify our portfolio of brands and drive online visibility through social media, including Facebook, Instagram, our blogs, and strategic partnerships (influencer and affiliate marketing efforts). This role will be instrumental in further developing and enhancing the company's social media ecosystem to leverage best practices and evolve our social media channels, with the goal of having an integrated approach across all channels. This person will understand how to tailor content for specific channels and audiences, including: current customers, prospective customers, Amazon, B2B wholesaling, influencers and brand ambassadors.

As an integral member of the Sovereign team, you will work closely with the VP of eCommerce, Director of Brand Management and other business partners to create comprehensive content campaigns leveraging social media channels to ultimately deliver value for the company and meet business goals.

The Social Media and Content Manager will manage any freelance writers/contractors we employ, and be responsible for determining additional future needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own overall strategy and content creation for all of Sovereign eCommerce’s brands social channels, strategic partnerships and blogs
  • Manage the content/editorial calendar for existing and new brands
  • Lead the development, budgeting and production of a wide range of content types: video, animation, still imagery, audio, blog/editorial, and other content that best utilizes relevant social media and digital platforms
  • Establish repeatable methodologies and mechanisms that enable fast and responsive content development and distribution
  • Monitor analytics, audience sentiment and social listening for insights into our brands, and translate learnings into actionable insights; own weekly and monthly report metrics; make real-time and long-term recommendations for improvement
  • Work in partnership with the customer experience team to monitor for and alert of customer escalations or possible crisis communications as they come through our social media channels
  • Oversee and increase blog post creation to attract site visitors and improve SEO
  • Strategize on social media advertising and collaborate with marketing team
  • Ensure all content maintains a high-level of quality, features a consistent tone and style, and supports and reinforces key messaging across all social platforms
  • Create platform-specific strategies based on brand campaigns, new product launches, and initiatives
  • Keep up on industry trends and news so that we are at the forefront of our space and can continue to educate ourselves and our customers
  • Drive the execution of project timelines to meet milestones

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • 3+ years experience managing social media, content strategy and strategic partnerships
  • Preferred background in public relations, journalism or marketing
  • A natural storyteller who is passionate about social media and content, and has a portfolio of work to back it up
  • A creative, go-getter that can push us to new levels of thinking about our stories but also be able to execute new processes and fine-tune as needed
  • Proven track record of creating, managing and building a strong social media and content program at least one time
  • Specialist in developing social marketing strategies that are native to each channel and that can deliver tangible results
  • Experience in the DTC space preferred
  • Team oriented; willing to occasionally step-in and take on responsibilities outside of immediate scope when needed
  • Highly organized, time-efficient, with a strong ability to manage multiple deadlines and multi-task across campaigns/channels.
  • Extreme attention to detail with relentlessly high standards.
  • Comprehensive visual and written communications skills, along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
