Job Description

PepsiCo is seeking a Communications Manager to help promote and protect the reputation of the Frito-Lay North America (FLNA) portfolio of iconic brands.
This role will contribute to marketing and business objectives through the development of strategic PR plans, project management and execution, earned media / influencer strategy and engagement, and agency management. The Communications Manager will drive awareness for and build equity in FLNA brands in close partnership with the marketing organization as well as a multitude of stakeholders from other PepsiCo functions.
This role reports into the Director of Communications and is based in Plano

Key Accountabilities

  • Serve as communications advisor to FLNA marketing team on external PR initiatives
  • Develop creative and on-strategy communications plans that leverage media and influencers to support new campaigns, innovation launches, and other brand priorities.
  • Build media relations strategies, strengthen relationships with key members of the media and pitch brand marketing stories
  • Measure programming against set goals and contribute to effective and efficient reporting to key stakeholders
  • Support crisis and issues communications, as needed
  • Provide thoughtful and timely review of external marketing content for any potential reputational issues
  • Liaise with Internal Communications teammates on employee engagement efforts to build internal advocates for programming
  • Regularly liaise and collaborate with Frito-Lay and PepsiCo brand and corporate communications team members as well as cross-functional stakeholders
  • Stay informed of key issues and trends impacting the company and industry
  • Oversee the work of agency teams, ensuring flawless execution and rigorous measurement

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University, preferably with focus on Communications/Journalism/PR
  • 5+ years of PR experience managing brand communications in a fast-moving consumer goods category preferred (agency or large corporate entity)
  • Outstanding media relations skills including strategic planning and the ability to story-mine and pitch top-tier reporters
  • Strong expertise in navigating influencer programming and protocols
  • Strong understanding of social media, including new and emerging channels and analytics
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills – including presentations and media materials – and an ability to develop materials under tight timelines
  • Unique experiences that demonstrate creative instinct, passion for marketing and deep consumer empathy
  • Proven track record of driving successful, insight-based, creative communications programs that delivered against brand business objectives, on time and within budget
  • Proven ability to interact with, manage, and influence cross-functional teams & agency partners, and work in a matrixed environment
  • Some travel required (post-COVID environment)
