Duolingo is the most popular language learning application in the world, with over 300 million users. We currently offer 94 total courses across more than 38 distinct languages. Our mission is simple: to provide universally available language education to the world. Our next goal is ambitious: we want to teach the world to read.
Duolingo ABC is a free app developed by learning experts that teaches basic reading writing to children ages 3 to 7. The app already includes over 300 fun, bite-sized lessons that teach the alphabet, phonics, sight words, decoding ("sounding out" words), and much more. Since our initial launch, we have received an overwhelmingly positive response to Duolingo ABC, most recently being named as one of Time's 100 Best Inventions of 2020. We are looking to increase our user base and expand the curriculum to accommodate older learners.
As Duolingo ABC's first Director of Marketing, you will oversee acquisition and growth of Duolingo ABC through traditional, innovative, and community approaches. You will have massive impact and your work will be critical in advancing our mission to make learning accessible to everyone.
You Will…
- Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for Duolingo ABC
- Apply full-stack and multidisciplinary marketing skills to drive growth
- Work within a team of product, design, UXR, and engineering to scale adoption
- Lead creative ideation to deliver innovative, best-in-class campaigns
- Execute scalable approaches to community-style marketing including ambassador programs, influencer marketing, PR, social media, and events
- Build relationships with influencers in the education space
- Manage an annual budget with flexible scaling models
- Develop and own goals and performance metrics
- Compile monthly reports to turn marketing data into meaningful insights
- Be a strong thought partner for our CMO and the rest of the leadership team
You Have...
- 10+ years experience with apps, games, or other consumer products for children
- Proven results growing consumer user bases for consumer tech products/apps
- Deep understanding of the psychology and motivations of customers in this space
- Experience managing communities, social media, PR, and influencer programs
- Comfort experimenting with and deploying a budget against an array of marketing channels
- Track record of pioneering effective, scrappy approaches with proven ROI
- Data-driven approach to measurement, experimentation, and driving results
- Structured problem-solving skills to disaggregate complexity and find clear, actionable strategies
- Strong sense of urgency and desire to move fast and raise the bar
- Clear, concise written and spoken communication
- High proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, graphs, formulas, etc.) and Google Suite (specifically, Sheets)
