Southern California News Group, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Business Development Representative to sell print, digital, branded content, custom content and Adtaxi products across 11 publications, with an emphasis on the Orange County Register. This position has the ability to develop strong relationships, create strategic sales plans, and work for one of the largest media companies in the Southern California area!
Responsibilities:
- Proactively prospect, qualify, grow, and maintain all sales activities, from lead generation through close to advertisers with an emphasis on new business development
- Manage and improve the partnership with the customer to cultivate long-term business relationships
- Using multiple lead sources, researches, plans and prioritizes prospects of potential customers in order to match customers targeted audience segments with SCNG/Skyline/Adtaxi products including print, internet banner advertising, Custom/Branded content, Influencer marketing, behavioral and contextual targeted networks, video, SEO/SEM, mobile, and social media
- Display a thorough understanding of ad serving, ad networks and data management and search technologies
- Possess a thorough knowledge of SCNG print and digital product portfolio (features, benefits, rates, etc.)
- Manage all inbound sales leads and develop a focused prospect list based on SCNG’s value proposition and market needs
- Understand competitive sales strategies and can convey the value that our products and services have over the competition and uses product knowledge to develop a comprehensive counter-attack
- Create, develop, and lead marketing presentations and create solution based needs proposals that sell the customer based on information provided by the customer
- Develop strong relationships with senior-level contacts at client organizations (both technical and business relationships)
- Ability to analyze and interpret key sales metrics and develop strategies to reach sales success
- Actively pursue and maintain an understanding of current trends in the advertising technology industry
- Navigate internally with various departments to create compelling media solutions for advertisers
- Other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of business-to-business selling experience with responsibility for managing customer relationships
- Working knowledge of Salesforce & Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Proficient in Zoom, Google Hangouts, or similar video conferencing
- Superior knowledge of sales techniques including cold-calling, networking, lead generation, all with the ability to capture and close the deal with a proven track record of success driving revenue
- Ability to work independently and be self-driven, with the ability to identify, plan and prioritize business opportunities
- Proven track record of closing new business and negotiating multi-variable contracts
- Positive and entrepreneurial attitude
- Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships both internally and externally.
- Strong presentation, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities; demonstrated time management skills
- Must have valid drivers license in order to visit clients on-site
Physical Demands
- Standing 10%, walking 40%, and sitting 50% of shift
- Lift and carry approx. 10 lbs. of materials as required for sales presentations
