Business Affairs Lead, Fitness+
Summary
The Business Affairs team at Apple drives the planning, licensing, and execution of rights-managed content in Apple’s advertising and marketing and is an integral part of Apple’s Global Marketing Communications function. We work closely with business, legal, and production teams across Apple functions and organizations to ensure the flawless development of world-class marketing communications.
Key Qualifications
- 4-7 years demonstrated experience, preferably in a rights related positions in the advertising or the music industry.
- Solid understanding of copyright, trademark and licensing in the area of music or advertising law with particular emphasis on digital content/technology initiatives and social marketing.
- A deep knowledge of intellectual property rights (a law degree is helpful but not required) ideally gained from experience working in a marketing, advertising and/or agency environment.
- Extensive up-to-date industry knowledge on right of publicity, influencer marketing, and social media advertising legal issues
- Self-motivated and flexible. Able to deal with rapid change in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Exceptional organizational, prioritization and time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Highly collaborative, with outstanding communication skills along with strong creative problem solving skills.
- Ability to partner with Original Content Legal in the application of legal standards in Apple marketing, including:
- Experience drafting licensing agreements
- Understanding of technology law as they pertain to IP issues in photography and advertising
- Understanding of industry standards around distribution of traditional media
Description
Our team is currently seeking a Business Affairs Lead to support our Fitness+ team. In this role, you will be responsible for all segments of the Business Affairs function for Apple Fitness+ marketing across all Apple-controlled marketing channels.
This role demands a high degree of ownership, integrity and accountability. You will develop, deploy and scale the strategic and tactical business risk mitigation processes for rights-managed content used in Apple Fitness+ marketing. Key partners for success include Original Content Legal, Apple Fitness Technologies, Apple Services Marketing, and a host of internal and external partners.
Business Affairs:
Review and advise on all Apple Fitness+ marketing assets across all Apple marketing communications channels including Fitness+ brand and trainer social handles, emails (Fitness+ weekly, Time to Walk, on-boarding), apple.com, push notifications, channel and retail partner assets, growth marketing assets.
Manage marketing and business risk issues in partnership with Original Content Legal.
Be the go-to resource for Apple Fitness+ Marketing teams on international marketing requirements and laws.
Strategize with partners to mitigate legal risk associated with marketing shoots inclusive of third-party promotional content.
Content and Marketing Production:
Support all content production work inclusive of third-party IP including creative ideation, pre-production, on-set production, post production, localization and archiving.
Provide Apple and agency partner production teams detailed, practical guidance surrounding legal issues, marketing rights restrictions, FCC and FTC compliance strategies, and the business risk associated with each.
Provide general production guidance regarding guest talent restrictions and/or contractual riders.
Photography and Talent:
Review and advise on all use of photography including Time to Walk talent and destination images and guest trainer images, and any Fitness+ marketing imagery inclusive of Nike apparel.
Photo asset management for current and future lines of production.
Gatekeeper of photo and video assets for handoff between production and marketing groups.
Collaborate closely between production entities and marketing teams in connection with the ingestion, management and servicing of approved photos.
Manage all third-party clearances necessary for marketing use of Fitness+ Photography including talent, locations, landmarks, etc.
Music:
Partner across Apple to execute licensing agreements with independent and represented artists, both within the US and worldwide.
Manage commercial third-party music licensing terms and fees.
Clear or license third-party promotional Music for marketing use.
Serve as localization strategy and planning point of contact for all third-party IP, GEO Business Affairs and localization efforts in partnership with US GEO Business Affairs Leads.
